‘General Hospital’ spoilers share that Laura Wright, who plays Carly Spencer, recently dished to Soap Opera Digest about the lengths that Carly will go to in order to protect her son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Carly Doesn’t Want To Believe Michael May Be Guilty
According to Wright, Carly is frantic over the possibility of Michael being arrested for Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting. She’s not only worried that he’ll be arrested, but also that he may be guilty.
Michael had the means, motive, and opportunity to pull the trigger on Drew. Mama Bear Carly isn’t going to let Michael go down for this. Not a chance.
Carly will do whatever it takes, including taking the blame herself. We have to wonder if it may have been Carly who planted the gun in Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) room at Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) house.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Willow Also Had A Motive To Shoot Drew
It would make perfect sense, as Willow also had a motive to shoot Drew, despite their on-and-off relationship. Wright also points out that while Carly would certainly understand if Michael did shoot Drew,
“She would care because she doesn’t want to see him hurt somebody.”
She continued,
“You don’t want to see your child kill somebody or try to, or be so angry that he’s going to hurt someone in a way that could put him in prison forever. She doesn’t want him to go to jail. And she’ll do everything she can to stop that from happening.”
Of course, we all know that Carly will do anything to protect her kids. We do admit that while it was weird for Michael to suddenly show up to visit Willow at Liz’s home and declare that she can see the kids, Carly’s visit with Liz raises some of the same questions.
General Hospital Spoilers: Michael And Carly Acted Sketchy During Their Respective Visits
Both Michael and Carly acted a bit sketchy during their respective visits to Elizabeth’s. Fans on social media think that Carly really didn’t need to stop by Elizabeth’s house.
Her interaction with Liz wasn’t really necessary, unless it was a plot device to save Michael. Wright said,
“It’s not necessarily Michael’s first choice to have Carly take it upon himself to keep him out of he cops’ crosshairs.”
She continued,
“But Carly being Carly, the chances that she’ll drop her quest are pretty slim, even if he asks her to back off! Never!”
The jury is still out on whether Michael or Carly left that “gift” in Willow’s room for the PCPD to find. Or perhaps it was someone that no one would ever suspect.
Michael could very well be a red herring, as who-dun-it mysteries tend to have several of them. Anyone could have shot Drew. The whole town despises him.
General Hospital Spoilers: Did Classic Carly Emerge To Protect Michael?
However, it does sound like a classic Carly move to take the heat off Michael by any means necessary. She loves her kids more than her own life.
Even if she has to go to prison for one of her kids, she will. We also have to wonder if Edward Quartermaine’s (John Ingle) gun somehow has Willow’s fingerprints on it.
We also don’t think that Carly actually shot Drew. The old Carly might have fired lead into Congressman Caine, but not the evolved version of the character.
Wright also said she’s “having a blast” playing the mother-son dynamic with Rory Gibson, who took over the role of Michael after Chad Duell left the soap earlier this year.
Wright enthused,
“I love Rory! He is so great, always prepared, comes to set, knows his lines, ready to play. We have a great time together! I love working with him! It’s a lot of fun!”
