‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers suggest that the show’s decision to kill off Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) to save Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havens) is a huge mistake.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Show Is Swapping One Legacy Character For Another
The show is swapping one legacy character for another, which isn’t a wise move. Fans made heartfelt petitions, created the hashtag, I Stand With Kelly Monaco, put up a billboard in Times Square, purchased a billboard truck, and sent it to the Prospect studio where GH is filmed to campaign for Kelly to stay on the show.
After Kelly’s firing was announced, rumors were swirling that she refused to take the pay cut, which isn’t true because the actress admitted that she did.
The show terminated her character, claiming it was “storyline dictated.” Not only is the show making a mistake with this decision, but the writers’ inconsistency is also baffling.
Wouldn’t Sam get tested along with everyone else weeks ago? It looks like a rewrite to us. The writers first had several key characters go to Africa to search for Lucky Spencer (Johnathan Jackson), who was supposed to be Lulu’s liver donor.
However, the storyline changed course and now, Sam is suddenly a match for Lulu. The irony of killing off Dante Falconeri‘s (Dominic Zamprogna) current love, Sam, to save his first love, Lulu, isn’t lost on us, but it’s not a good idea for the show.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sam Will Sacrifice Her Life For Lulu
While it makes Sam a hero, it also makes us resent Lulu before she even wakes up. It’s almost as if Lulu will take her place. Not to mention, it’s not even the original Lulu or the actress who last Lulu coming back on the show. It’s an entirely new Lulu, with whom the viewers aren’t familiar.
How could they have Dante and Lulu reunite after Sam sacrifices her life to save her? It’s in such poor taste that it’s ridiculous.
Watching Dante, Sam, and the kids share a group hug at the end of a recent episode of GH was heart-rendering and a tearjerker. It made us all realize that Sam was giving up her life with Dante and the children for Lulu to live.
It’s the final time they will all embrace, and Sam’s death will devastate her children, Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinate) and Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn). We guess now the kids will be stuck with their deadbeat dads.
Sam is a character who belongs on GH. She has her mom, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), who may turn back to the bottle following Sam’s death, and her sisters, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), who are currently at each other’s throats.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sam’s Possibilities End With Her Death
With Sam gone, it obviously eliminates the possibility of great storyline potential. Sam will never marry Dante, or for those JaSam fans, she will never reunite with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and recapture the magic of their former glory, which can never be revisited.
Sam will never have any more adventures, and while it’s been years since that part of her was awakened, it’s now impossible. With Sam’s death, her story ends there. It leaves a void in the canvas that can’t be filled. It’s a waste of Kelly’s talent.
Sam should have also played a role in Dante’s and Lulu’s relationship. Putting the three together in a love triangle would have been more soapy and less dark. The show could have gotten a lot of mileage with that.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Kelly Monaco Appreciates Her Loving Fans
Sam’s tragic outcome will leave fans heartbroken, and several characters suffer. The Davis family will never be the same after this.
When Kelly wrapped up filming her last scenes for the show after twenty-one years of being there. Kelly Monaco’s mom, Carmina Monaco, left a beautiful message for her fans.
“I want to take this moment to reach out to Kelly’s incredible fans and express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering love, loyalty, and support you’ve shown her throughout her time on General Hospital,”
She continued,
“On this final day, just four days shy of the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close the door of her dressing room for the last time. This moment is a difficult one, but knowing she had such an incredible, devoted fan base has given her strength.”
She said.
“You’ve stood by her through every twist and turn, celebrating her achievements and providing comfort in the hard times. Your love and dedication have meant more than words can express, not only to Kelly, but to all of us who care so deeply for her. Thank you for being there, for believing in her, and for reminding her of the impact she’s made. We will always be grateful for you standing by her through it all.”
