Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are scheduled to attend the Invictus Games. It was recently announced that the 2027 Invictus Games would occur in Birmingham, England. Three new sports will be featured: pickleball, laser run, and esports.
Harry Lost His High Court Challenge In February
The goal is to have sports ceremonies and festivals together in Birmingham in collaboration with the Invictus Games.
Prince Harry has wanted to return the Games to the UK since they were held in London during the first Invictus Games in 2014. However, it looks like the Duke of Sussex may be traveling solo.
Due to security concerns, Meghan Markle could miss the Invictus Games for the first time. The last time Meghan was seen in the UK was in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Harry established the Games for sick, injured, and wounded veterans, a cause close to his heart.
In February, Harry lost his High Court challenge against the British government over the loss of his taxpayer-funded police protection.
Harry told the judge that he felt unsafe bringing his wife and children to the UK.
“The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US,”
He said.
“That cannot happen if it is not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil,”
He continued.
“I cannot put my wife in danger like that, and given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way, too.”
Having the Invictus Games back in the UK also raises questions about whether the royal family will support the Duke as they did ten years ago.
Meghan Is Too “Thin-Skinned” To Return To the UK
Harry visited the UK in May to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, King Charles and his brother, Prince William, did not attend.
While no one from the senior royal family showed up for Harry, other family members came to the event: Princess Diana’s younger brother, Earl Charles Spencer, and her older sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, represented his mother’s side of the family.
The Invictus Games is special for Harry and Meghan. They were first pictured in public together at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017.
Ever since then, the Duchess of Sussex has attended every competition. It has also been reported that Meghan is afraid to set foot in the UK as she doesn’t want to experience being booed in public again.
The crowds infamously booed Harry and Meghan at St. Paul’s Cathedral for an event related to the Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth. Conversely, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, were met with ecstatic cheers from the crowd.
Harry was brave enough to make the trip back to the same church where he was booed. What exactly is Meghan so afraid of? Reports claim that Meghan hates the UK and doesn’t want to return.
Is Meghan really that thin-skinned? Apparently so, and several royal experts, including Angela Levin, have accused “Duchess Difficult” of being unable to handle criticism. It’s too bad since she’ll miss this significant moment with Harry.
