In the third and most recent installment in the Shane Dawson documentary about Jeffree Star, the former makeup guru went into detail about specifically why he is quitting the platform. For one thing, he said that people are just not into long-form content anymore and he’s not getting the views he used to.
He also says that he feels like he’s “done everything” that can be achieved with makeup on camera, at least by him. But then he went into some other details, details that we had forgotten about.
The real reason Jeffree Star is quitting YouTube
Apparently there was a video out there claiming that Jeffree had lied about his Grandmother’s age (he said in the documentary that she is 105. Wow.), but he also said that he rounded her age up.
Okay, considering this is Jeffree’s Grandma and she isn’t the one on social media it just seems a bit ludicrous that he would receive hate for rounding up her age. After all, there’s plenty of people out there who don’t know their Grandmother’s real age. Jeffree said that everyone made him into “the villain” for this and it just wasn’t fun anymore.
We do remember that he went to visit his Grandma at the very beginning of the pandemic which did make us worry because, well, she was in the demographic that was most at-risk, but Jeffree went and got vaccinated the second he could, he even has a vlog about that day in Wyoming. Considering Jeffree’s Grandma is still alive and kicking we’ll say that he didn’t do anything that any other influencer at the time wasn’t doing. (Ahem, Tana Mongeau, ahem.)
It would seem that he’s still pretty committed to quitting youtube, unless a Christmas Miracle happens and he decides that he’s not going anywhere but upon viewing the final installment we kind of doubt that. He said that he had two more videos, but since this documentary has been released Jeffree has uploaded three videos. So perhaps he’s waiting until after the Christmas holidays to leave the platform, that would make sense.
As for those of you waiting on the Doomsday Pallette, keep dreaming because while it was shown on camera – it’s not actually being released. Though, Jeffree was sure to show off which pallettes had the repurposed colors in them.
He used a lot of them in the Blood Money pallette, it would seem. He even included some mini-reviews of the shades. If they hadn’t already been repurposed then we’re pretty sure that he and Shane would have released it as sort of a last hurrah. We’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
