Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, is being accused of using his royal status to sell access Vladimir Putin. And according to a lot of people, this is a very serious allegation. But according to some royal reports, such as Chris Ship of ITV news, it’s not what you think it is.
Chris wrote on Twitter, “For context, Prince Michael of Kent is not a working member of the Royal Family and does not receive public funding. We are told he pays market rent and fees for his Kensington Palace apartment. He earns a living through his 40-year old ‘consultancy company.’
Of course, it didn’t take very long for Chris’ Twitter followers to call him out on all of this. Many commented on his post with, “Excuses I’m afraid and a quick check on google highlights you’re not correct. Yeses on HRH titles at times. I’m hoping they’ll be just as much of a media outage as Meghan received for writing a book. But somehow I don’t think so, wonder why?”
Along with, “According to the RF website pre pandemic he undertook 200 engagements on behalf of the Q so Altho he does not receive public money on the regular like full time working royals ,he DOES receive public money for said engagements so why do you fail to add this detail?”
Another critic wrote, “Double standard from the so call royals reporters but if this was Harry and Meghan oh boy it will spread on the news like there is no tomorrow.”
