Sorry Charles, but you are going to have to wait a tad bit longer. One royal expert believes that Queen Elizabeth will never abdicate, as she knows she’s made a commitment in front of God. Here’s what you need to know.

Royal documentarian Nick Bullen recently said that Queen Elizabeth II won’t abdicate, even though she just lost her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip. And while she might have just turned 95 this week, no one should expect the grieving monarch to step down anytime soon.

“The queen will never abdicate, full-stop,” Bullen told Fox News.  “She made a commitment not just to this country, to the Commonwealth and her family, but also to God. Faith is very important to her. And when she became queen, she made that commitment in front of God as well. So she will do this job until she is no longer able to do this job.”

And while Queen Elizabeth has already handed over more of her royal duties to family members such as Prince William and Kate Middleton, she is definitely not stepping back, even though she is progressively slowing down.

“I think we can expect to see more of that,” he explained. “If you see now, she doesn’t take on foreign trips. So the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall take on more of the foreign trips, along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. And with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex living in California, we can expect to see Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex taking on more royal duties.”

So far Queen Elizabeth herself has not made any comments about what she plans on doing in the future.
