She’s back at work and she’s got a smile on her face – which is exactly what her husband would want to have seen. Queen Elizabeth has been spotted for the first time since Prince Philip’s funeral. T

he 95-year-old monarch has been pictured on royal duty as she had a virtual meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first time she has been pictured undertaking her royal duties since Philip, 99, died peacefully at the Berkshire royal residence on April 9. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, the Queen has resumed royal duties just four days after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. She held audiences with the Ambassador from the Republic of Latvia and the Ambassador from the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire.

The monarch also hosted a ceremony to mark the retirement of her household’s most senior official, former Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel, on April 13.

Following Prince Philip’s death, it was announced the monarchy and their households would observe two weeks of royal mourning – with members of the family “continuing to undertake engagements appropriate to the circumstances,” a royal official said.

Meanwhile, other members of the royal family have resumed their royal engagements and public appearances – but in person and not on Zoom.

Princess Anne attended not one, but two services of commemoration to mark the Anzac Day of Commemoration and Thanksgiving. The Princess Royal’s husband – Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence – joined her, too.

Prince William, meanwhile, decided to phone it in on the same day that his aunt went to work. In a video for Anzac Day, he signed two letters, put them in envelopes, and had a staffer deliver them to the Australian and New Zealand embarrasses in London, along with cookies.
