‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) was brought into Genoa City and was immediately a formidable opponent for the likes of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). They built him up in such a way that made us feel he could go toe to toe with him and maybe even win.

He was even nicknamed the infamous ‘Lochness Monster’. While the introduction was incredibly strong, he seemingly lost a lot of fright as time progressed eventually leading to a lackluster ending and one that we will remember for a while to come.

What should have and could have been an incredible face-off between two titans was relegated to one right hook and a bump on the head. While we at least got to witness the end of Ashland onscreen as opposed to Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) off-screen car crash, we still feel robbed of a great potential villain.

Not to mention they had two great actors to take on the role in Richard Burgi and Robert Newman, yet it feels as though it was all for nothing. It was just another failed romance for Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). While there was a moment where Ashland’s men had captured Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), it was quickly resolved and never really felt like he was in any danger which is fine, but what happened to the ‘monster’ part of Locke?

For a character that was touted so high that he could take over the world, having his story come to such an abrupt and unsatisfying end has been hard to deal with. Now, I suppose our biggest threat in Genoa City is Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) which is another story.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Ashland Locke character and do you think his story came to too much of an abrupt end? Let us know in the comments below.
