Kylen Schulte and Crystal Turner had their whole lives ahead of them, they had just gotten married and were working and living at various campsites in and around Moab, Utah, Kylen in particular worked at the Moonflower Community Co-Op and from all accounts was a good employee, would always call in if she were going to miss a shift but that was not a regular occurrence at all to hear her supervisor’s tell it.
She was seen with her wife, Crystal Turner, on the night of August 13th at a bar with friends, little did any of them know that that was the last time any of them would see them alive. They had been complaining of a ‘creepy guy’ that kept hanging around their campsite told their friends that they had moved their campsite, but to no avail, tragedy struck anyway.
Timeline Possibly Linking Brian Laundrie To The Moab Murders Comes Out
While no one has come forward with the identity of this man, just a day earlier, in the same area of Moab Utah, a man by the name of Brian Laundrie and his girlfriend Gabby Petito was stopped outside the Moonflower Co-Op (where Kylen Schulte happened to be working that day) by police and separated due to a domestic dispute.
Since Gabby owned the van, she stayed with the van and the police got Brian a hotel room which was a seven-minute walk to the local tavern, the same local tavern that Kylen and Crystal were last spotted at. Neither Kylen Schulte nor Crystal Turner called into work the next day.
While allegedly the Moab Police went out there to look for them, they did not find them. On August 18th, the Father of Kylen Schulte posted to his Facebook saying that no one had heard from his girls (he considered them both his daughters) in four days.
On August 17th, the same day that Brian Laundrie flew home to Florida by himself allegedly to move some things out of storage, family friend Cindy fought with herself all day thinking that she needed to go up there and check on them. It was an hour’s drive from where she was, and she was initially reluctant to go because she always lost signal in the area, but on this day the signal remained strong.
Providence works in mysterious ways because it was actually Cindy who found Kylen’s body in a creek behind their campsite. According to her, their and campsite could be seen from the road so it is unclear how much the Police actually searched for the two women initially.
Cindy said that what initially caught her eye was the fact that there were some Gatorade bottles lying around, which some might argue clears Brian Laundrie because he said he didn’t drink out of plastic, but he was spotted on a surveillance camera with Gabby Petito buying bottled water that came in plastic bottles.
There was also the water bottle that he carried… that happened to be made out of plastic. So that logic doesn’t exactly track. After the Police were called once more, that’s when the body of Crystal Turner was located, but it took them over an hour to come to the scene, and allegedly Moab is not a crime-ridden area.
There is also the fact that the campsites of Kylen Schulte, Crystal Turner, and Brian Laundrie, and Gabby Petito were within minutes of each other.
While it can’t exactly be said that life imitates art here, Brian Laundrie seemed to be a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk novels, including “Lullabye” and “Rant”, so one wonders if, in the back of his mind he was trying to recreate a dark fantasy scenario from either one of those novels.
Unless the content of the notebook that was found in his belongings near his body is revealed, we will probably never know his true motive behind any of his actions those days. As of yet, no connection has been made between the Moab Murders and the murder of Gabby Petito, but all of this evidence does indeed beg the question – it begs lots of questions – could they be connected?
