Brazilian Football legend Pele has been hospitalized in Brazil where he is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for colon cancer. This comes just months after finding out he had colon cancer. The 81-year-old FIFA “Player of the Century” has been receiving chemo at Sao Paolo Hospital Albert Einstein.
After the diagnosis, Pele underwent surgery to remove a tumor in September, spending a month in the hospital. It was then that they said he would require chemotherapy. He is staying positive though, and the last time he was at the hospital, he wrote,
“When the path is difficult, celebrate each step of the journey. Focus on your happiness. It’s true that I can’t jump anymore, but these past few days,”

Football Legend Pele Hospitalized & Undergoing Chemo For Colon Cancer
While he knew he would require chemotherapy treatments, it’s terrible to have to be stuck back in the hospital after you were just released following major surgery. Though, if anyone can do it, it’s Pele. He is, thankfully, in stable condition, and it appears that he’ll be able to be discharged in the next few days.
Pele is considered the greatest by many and is the only male to win the World Cup three times, even leading Brazil to their first title in 1958. He’s the country’s all-time leading international scorer with 77 goals and he’s scored more than 1,000 in his career before retiring in 1977.
He was introduced into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1993.
We hope for the best and wish him well during his chemotherapy!
