Gabbie Hannah came back to youtube to explain why she deleted all of her social media, and the truth was a lot more complicated than we originally suspected. Apparently, she is not the narcissist that we had all originally been led to believe.
I’d be skeptical too but after listening to her video, I have a different view of her than I originally did. Before this I had never actually sat down and watched her content, I think the only thing I ever saw previously that she did was a collaboration with someone, but I can’t be sure.

In this video, after describing in a very non-specific way why she left social media, she didn’t want to name any names so she left all names out and just described the actions involved. According to her, she got involved in a “very abusive friend group” in 2013 and while she wasn’t friends with them for very long, what she described that went on was really disturbing.
These people would give her backhanded compliments and basically gaslight her all the time, play up to her face and then go behind her back and spread vicious lies about her. She didn’t name this person by name but in all honesty it sounds kind of familiar, like the whole mess that went down between Simplynessa15 and Tana Mongeau, I’m not saying Tana was involved at all in this, it’s just an incredibly similar sounding situation.
Thanks to this one specific person in this friend group whom she did not name, there were a lot of other people who were convinced by this person that she was a crazy narcissist and not to trust her and just spread a bunch of lies about her.
The reason why her channel was shadowbanned from youtube (and it was) is because prior to 2013 she had a lot of storytimes uploaded that involved adult content (talk of sex, drugs, etc.) and because she got a lot of bad comments that stemmed from this person directing haters to go comment on her videos and leave horrible comments suggesting sexual violence and self-harm, the algorithm blocked her channel.
Apparently, youtube now shadowbans people according to the comments on their channel that they get. So if someone gets excessive NSFW comments about their videos, then the channel will be shadowbanned and won’t show up in anyone’s recommended videos at all and will not be deemed as advertiser friendly so the channel will lose all its ad revenue.
Gabbie said that it had really hurt her channel and she has spent hours in therapy over this, thinking that she was the crazy person, but nope… they finally figured out what was wrong and it was due to the comments that her videos were getting. She said that the shadowban was so bad that her own Grandma couldn’t subscribe to her channel, come on youtube.
On this video however it looks like the ad thing was fixed, at least on mobile views, because I got two ads within the first 30 seconds of viewing this video on my phone and they just kept appearing. There were not as many ads when I switched over to my TV for viewing but mobile ads knocked it out of the park, so fans, if you really want to support your girl Gabbie, then view the video on mobile and don’t skip the ads. Apparently she needs the coin.
She did say it had really hurt her channel and in the video she seemed pretty genuine. So make what you will about Gabbie, but an algorithm isn’t her fault. If there’s any more on the situation we’ll let you know. Stay tuned!!!
