Some of you may remember youtuber Gabbie Hannah from a drama that she had last year with youtuber Trisha Paytas where she decided to ‘out’ Trisha for having an STD, thing is, according to Gabbie, she was doing it as a public service because she was worried about her friend who was involved with Trisha at the time. The thing is, that sort of ended up looking bad for Gabbie because that’s not really her responsibility to inform the public of anyone’s sexual health, even if she was concerned for her friend’s safety. But now it looks like there could possibly be more drama headed Gabbie’s way but while that drama was just dramatic, this drama seems to have a far darker slant to it.
As it turns out, Gabbie Hannah may just have a stalker. Recently she tweeted, “The worst part of having a stalker is the paranoia. It makes it hard to engage with fans because you never know if it’s the person that hurt you behind the keyboard. You can block them time and time again but they always find a way.” and “This is me pleading with you, knowing you’re reading this, please PLEASE leave me alone. Leave my friends, family, and fans alone. I don’t know what you’re looking for or waiting for. PLEASE let me live in peace.”
Youtuber Gabbie Hannah has a stalker?
One fan tweeted at Gabbie that whomever this fan was, was sending the fans threats to kill themselves. How sick is that? Gabbie then asked them who it was and posted the link to a now-deleted twitter account which was gabbiesbaby6262. This prompted Gabbie to tweet out another tweet saying that the most messed up thing about a stalker is the less you want to do with them the more obsessed they get, and that there was practically nothing she could do to keep this person away from her or her young followers. She tweeted out looking for advice on the matter. The gabbiesbaby6262 account tweeted out that they would have their revenge soon.
What does that even mean?!
Having a stalker is a serious thing, for those of us older, first gen millennials and probably a lot of gen-xers who grew up in the 80’s, we all remember the story of Rebecca Schafer, a sitcom star who was on the show My Sister Sam who was shot by a crazed fan and stalker. He had communicated with Schafer for months and tracked her down and then came to her apartment one day and shot her point blank. A more recent instance of this was back in 2016 with Christina Grimmie, she had covered a lot of songs on her youtube channel and was subsequently a contestant on The Voice. She was at a fan meet and greet when someone came up and shot her at point blank range, a man who had previously claimed to be a fan.
In the days of social media, it’s a blessing and a curse that these social media stars are so easily accessible. At least with a hollywood star or starlet, you kind of know that they have decent security, with these social media stars, a lot of them are still broadcasting from their bedrooms, and while that makes for a more relatable idol, it also makes for unsavory people who think that they can get the jump on someone and hurt them in a far more real and sadistic way. As problematic as Gabbie has been in the past, we at DSD dearly hope that she and all of her family, friends, and fans stay safe. This is a serious issue and we at DSD will keep abreast of it.
