Fans were left upset and distraught over the news that ‘Young and the Restless’ producers have decided to pull the plug on one of their favorite characters, Cane Ashby. After all, actor Daniel Goddard has always been a fan favorite and someone who has always been rather well-liked and well-received, both on and off screen. They couldn’t believe that the decision was made to fire Daniel, and especially during a very pivotal story line for his character.

‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Can Fans Bring Back Cane Ashby?
CBS Soaps in Depth reports that one of the reasons why Daniel Goddard was left go is because most of the members of his on-screen family are no longer with the soap. Daniel himself even said, “That without Neil and Lily there is just no Cane.” However, ‘Young and the Restless’ fans refuse to believe that. As many fans can recall, Cane Ashby was killed off back in 2011. But because so many viewers took to their social media accounts to protest the character’s death, writers decided to bring Cane Ashby back. It was later revealed that Cane’s twin brother had actually died, and not him.
It was a move that the actor was very thankful for. At the time Daniel told Soaps in Depth in an interview, “It’s a testament to the voice of the fans and it’s a testament to the creative powers of ‘Young and the Restless’, where they can look at something and say, ‘Hey, let’s see what we can do with this and make something.” Now whether or not history can repeat itself remains to be seen. In the meantime, we will just have to keep our fingers crossed!
