HBO Max’s ‘Mortal Kombat’ is releasing this Friday and there’s a lot of hype built up behind it! Promising a bloody, action-filled adventure, the creators behind the film have taken their time to honor the source material.

Don’t expect a cheesy, video game adaptation like the 1995 ‘Mortal Kombat’ film (which I still love), because this is going to be rated-R and will feature everything we love about the original, bloody games.

HBO Max released the first 7 minutes of the film today, which is a lot of what we’ve seen in the trailers but with more footage of Joe Taslim’s Bi-Han aka Sub-Zero. Take a look at the opening below that was uploaded with the following description,

“Hanzo Hasashi’s (Hiroyuki Sanada) life is forever changed when his compound is attacked by a few uninvited visitors. Watch the first seven minutes of Mortal Kombat here.

Mortal Kombat is in theaters April 23 and streaming exclusively on HBO Max at 12:01 am PT/3:01 am ET. Available on HBO Max in the US only at no extra cost to subscribers for 31 days from its theatrical release.”

Fans commented on the clip, “Freaking looking forward to this”, “Damn, the way he screams Bi-Han… Rage, anger, pain: SCORPION!”, “Hiroyuki Sanada was 59 years old when he filmed MK back in 2019, let that sink in for a moment. He has so much energy to filmed those fight scene for a 59 year old man and He doesn’t aged like at all!”, “Goddamn the choreography looks amazing.”, and “That’s some respect for canon right there. Not a lot of people bring up the fact that Scorpion is Japanese and Subzero is Chinese.”

HBO Max’s ‘Mortal Kombat’ releases in a few days on April 23rd!
