On the Food Network show, Worst Cooks In America, we first met Ariel Robinson. Now it seems that she and her husband, Austin Robinson are being charged with the death of their foster daughter, who was 3-years old. Austin has pleaded guilty to the charges and Ariel will go to trial in May. The couple is from South Carolina and was charged with her death in January of 2021. The child’s name was Victoria Rose Smith.

    True Crime: The Charges

Austin will face a minimum of 10 to 20 years in prison. The charges against him are homicide by child abuse/ aiding and abetting. The Greenville County senior deputy coroner, Kent Dill told the court that Victoria Rose died from multiple blunt force injuries. The young child was found on January 14, 2021, and she was unresponsive. This was at 2:25 p.m. and she was taken to the Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she died.

Austin told the court that he walked into his home to find Ariel holding a belt. She told him that she was going to beat the child because she had grown so frustrated with her. He added, “By the time I walked inside, it was as if nothing was going on. I told her, ‘you went too far this time’ and I should’ve stopped it.”

During his hearing, Austin said that the child had thrown up on herself and that angered Ariel. She then got upset because the child didn’t eat fast enough when they had somewhere they had to be on time. This made Ariel frustrated and that is when she decided to spank her and according to neighbors, they could hear the child screaming and crying in pain from outside of the house!

Austin knew that he had to do something, so he called 911 when the child was not responding to them. He told the 911 operator, “We have an emergency, our daughter is not responsive. She drank a lot of water. We tried to do CPR to get it out.”

The hearing for the couple to adopt the child was five days after her death, so needless to say, they never went to that trial. Ariel has pleaded not guilty and she will be faced with her hearing next month. She was named the winner of season 20 of the show on the Food Network. The network has removed the complete 20th season from Discovery+, YouTube, and Hulu. They heard about these charges and immediately wiped them.
