We know a lot about Olivia Plath since she married Ethan Plath, but pre-Plath, she used to be Olivia Meggs and so far, the Meggs family have successfully stayed out of the spotlight. Olivia’s sister, Lydia (yes, there’s another Lydia, Lydia Meggs) was supposed to do a youtube interview, but the interviewer decided at the last minute not to go through with it. This happened a couple of years ago back during the first season of Welcome to Plathville.
However recently, some people that have been keeping up with Lydia Megg’s IG story and it’s quite interesting, to say the least. Apparently at some point, the Meggs were charged with child neglect but Lydia says that CPS acted too quickly and to “save themselves” they dropped the charges and the kids that they were charged with neglecting had to go back and live with her parents.
What on earth went on with Olivia Plath’s family?
She spilled the tea that her family, and it is implied that the Plath family, were in the IBLP movement, the same movement that the Duggars were involved in. That would honestly explain so much about the Plaths beliefs.
Lydia says that out of all of her siblings, she keeps up with a grand total of two, one appears to be Nathan who is living down in Florida with Ethan and Olivia, and the other is a sister that she doesn’t mention by name. She says of Olivia that they don’t actually keep in touch that often and that she will always love her and is proud of her for finding happiness outside the IBLP movement.
Of the Plaths, she said that the family “used to be pretty cool” (I guess by fundie standards they were) and that they used to joke about Meggsville in VA and Plathville down in GA and how they all wanted their families to intermarry and start their own civillization. We will say that all of this was coming from a place of pure innocence because no one educated them on what in-laws intermarrying actually looked like. Ahem.
She was asked by someone about the beliefs that made her leave the movement and said that she really couldn’t share that much detail on an instastory, but that her family was actually still in the IBLP movement which is kind of a different story than what we heard from Olivia herself so we’re kind of wondering which source is the most accurate here.
