It seems that Ethan and Olivia Plath have come up with an interesting compromise – at least this time. The last time we saw Ethan and Olivia they were fighting about him going back up to Cairo from their new home in Tampa to work on his cars.
He still hasn’t told her about the classic car that he purchased, but something was different about this trip, they fought all the way up to Cairo but the second they got in the garage, a change came over Olivia. She got in there and actually started working with Ethan in order to fix the car, she even said that cleaning the engine was ‘extremely satisfying’, not many women would say that about cleaning a car engine.

Meanwhile, Ethan looked pleased as a peach for his wife to be interested in something he was doing for once. It seems that Phillip, the garage owner, is in part responsible for some positive changes in Ethan and Olivia’s marriage.
He’s always suggesting to Ethan to check in with Olivia, and see how she’s doing, and just, in general be more supportive. See, that’s the kind of guidance that Ethan actually needed from Barry, but considering what Kim has said about Barry – he’s simply not going to provide that kind of guidance at all. You kind of wonder what, if any, advice that Barry gave Ethan, marriage-wise. He seems a bit… hands-off in the advice department. The Barry we’re seeing right now is TV Barry, we kind of wonder what peak off-screen Barry looked like.
Whatever the case, it seems that Phillip has been a positive influence on Ethan, and that can only be a good thing for him and his marriage, since they do seem to want to stay together.
Ethan even admitted in his confessional that he has a problem with compartmentalization, meaning he can wall off things in his mind to where it doesn’t bother him. Perhaps ol’ Kim and Barry could book an engine cleaning session or two with Phillip to suss out their problems… or maybe we don’t want to traumatize poor Phillip. Stay tuned!!!
