Best Funeral Ever: What Happened?
The Golden Gate Funeral Home is one of the most popular in Dallas, Texas. The director of the funeral home said this about it, “If they wanna dunk a basketball, Golden Gate Funeral Home will make that happen.
If they wanna jump out of airplanes, Golden Gate Funeral Home will make that happen for them.” This show was first on TLC in 2013 and only went on for two seasons. That could be why many viewers don’t really remember it, but we do, and so does the state of Texas!
TLC Show ‘Best Funeral Ever’ Sued By 14 Families In Just The Last Week – Many Violations Of Texas Code
There are now about 17 different families that are coming out and saying that this funeral home did not handle their loved one’s remains in a humane and legal way. These families are telling authorities that the way that they handled their loved ones’ remains was repulsive. The funeral home is denying all of these allegations, but more and more families are coming out to authorities now.
Last week alone, there were 14 more families to file a lawsuit against the funeral home. One member of a family told authorities, “I can learn to forgive. I’m just hurt. I’m angry.” Jodie Jackson told authorities that she lost her 23-year-old son in a motorcycle accident. She turned to this funeral home to help her pay her respects in the best way possible. It turns out that they did a horrible job at it.
She said that she picked out the urn for his ashes. Then about two months later, she still hadn’t received his ashes. She said that she called, emailed, anything she could to get in touch with the funeral home and never heard anything back from them. When she finally got to them, she said that they didn’t even give her the right urn. “They go back there, bring the urn out and hand it to me. And then in a minute, the guy who does the cremations said, ‘hold on, here’s your other one.’ And I said, ‘why do I have another urn?’ And both of them are tremendously heavy. I mean heavy, heavy.”
There have been many violations of Texas codes by this funeral home and it seems that they haven’t been doing their best for their customers after all.
