In January of 2014, TLC introduced fans to couples who were going through a K-1 visa procedure on the show. Who would have thought that seven seasons later and a few spinoffs shows would cause 90 Day Fiancé to be a huge success. TLC did feel that they may have a great idea with this show, they did not realize how great it would end up being. TLC was not really sure how to handle success. They were very surprised about how people were reacting to it.

TLC discussed how they are serious about getting real couples on their shows. They take it all very sincerely. TLC is not matchmaking or putting couples together for just a show.
The couples are real people and they are together. They are all looking for that special person, that soul mate if you will. Some of the couples just met and others have known one another for a little bit of time. They’re all on the same journey and that is looking for their special person.
TLC has a process that they follow when screening for the show. They have quite an interview process. Sometimes it takes TLC some time and deliberating to find the right fit for the show. A lot of times, it takes seeing the couple with friends and families to really see how they will fit into the show.
Background checks and many other things are checked before they can be on the show. TLC wants to make sure they are fit for TV and fans too. 90 Day Fiancé has the crew and teams go to interesting parts of the world too. Sometimes, this can be a little dangerous. There was a situation in Brazil that was a little scary, but TLC makes sure the crews and couples are completely safe.
