Janice came to Ethiopia with Ariela to make sure that the living conditions there were good enough for her daughter to give birth. She took a tour of the hospital and admitted that she was really surprised by how clean it was and well stocked it was.
She seemed a little let down about it because she really wanted to take Ariela home to have the baby. Once she made up her mind about the hospital, she had a lot to talk about with Biniyam and Ariela.

The first question to come up was all about Biniyam’s ex-wife, who is also American, and also wanted to have her child in Ethiopia. He told Janice that he was “confused” about why she wanted to leave him.
He told her that she had found messages of him talking to other women and that was the reason why she left. Then he said he was sorry about the whole thing. That’s when Janice said, “You’re sorry? You didn’t do anything wrong, though, you said.”
Ariela told cameras, “My mom can be intimidating. She doesn’t have a lot of patience, and talking with Biniyam in English requires a lot of patience.” Janice did ask Biniyam is he was using Ariela to come tom America.
“You were married to an America. You find another America, and now you’re having a baby with another America. I mean, is your plan to come to the United States?” Biniyam did deny the fact that he was using Ariela.
Ariela is having some feelings that don’t look good for the relationship. “I think I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’m realizing we haven’t established ourselves. We’re not really sure what we need to spend money on.
I’m worried that a lot of the financial burden will fall on me. I support myself mainly doing freelance writing and editing, and the last thing I want to do is be dependent on my parents. This could be a big problem.”
