It looks like this year will be another one that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are skipping out on a royal Christmas. There’s a new report that suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have declined an invitation to join the rest of the royal family for Christmas at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate. And now we know the reason why.
According to reports, Meghan Markle doesn’t want to take a long transatlantic flight from Los Angeles to London with her daughter Lilibet, who will only be six months old during Christmas. At least, that’s what royal expert and commentator Matthew Wright believes.

He put it this way, “There’s so much speculation. They’re coming over, they’re not coming over. They’re coming over to show the child, they don’t want to show the child. I know that when we had Cassidy, we wouldn’t contemplate getting on a long-haul flight for the first 18 months of her lives. Covid came along and denied us that chance anyway.”
He added: “Lilibet is five, six months old, I think it’s perfectly understandable they wouldn’t necessarily want to cross half the planet for Christmas.” It was reported just last month that the Sussexes would be skipping Christmas in the UK.
“There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming,” one royal source told Page Six. “If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now.
“But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her.”
Apparently, one of the reasons why Harry and Meghan don’t want to fly to London right now is because they know it would make a ruckus in the media headlines and that’s something they want to avoid right now.
“I think everyone understands there will be a frenzy when they both come back to the UK, but they need to rip the [Band-Aid] off and get on with it.” the source added.
