‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Shemar Moore is set to reprise his role as Malcom Winters on the soap, alongside Vivica A. Fox, who will return to her role as Stephanie Simmons.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Both Actors Are Returning to Shake-Up Y&R
The actor will make his big Y&R comeback on Tuesday, April 7th. Moore recently spoke with TV Insider and dished about his return to Genoa City.
Shemar originally appeared on Y&R from 1994 to 2002. Moore won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work as Malcom.
He returned for a brief stint from 2004 to 2005. Additionally, he made a few brief visits in 2019, 2023, and 2024. Fox played Stephanie from 1994 to 1995.

Apparently, both actors are returning for a major story that will shake up the soap. Y&R asked Moore to come back for a “cool dramatic story.”
We suspect that Malcom and Stephanie may be Holden Novak’s (Nathan Owens) parents, but there is no confirmation.
It’s been over 30 years since Malcom and Stephanie had their brief little romance. Working together again brought back fond memories for Moore.
He told TV Insider,
“Just to be able to stand on that stage with her, and talk and mess with her, and for Malcom and Stephanie to be back with the storyline that they created, which is interesting, and obviously soapy dramatic, but fun to play.”
Moore shared,
“It was really just a reunion of sorts, a party of sorts, to celebrate what Young and the Restless has done for us, to really give us momentum in the game for us to continue to pursue our dreams.”
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Moore Owes a Debt of Gratitude to Kristoff St. John
While Moore was happy to see some of his former co-stars, it was also, sadly, a reminder of those who weren’t there: Kristoff St. John, who played Malcom’s brother, and Neil Winters, who passed away in 2019.

Moore explained his connection with St John,
“I approached my career to chase my dreams, my goals, but also to prove it’s possible for other dreamers out there, and Kristoff was that for me.”
He said,
“In the beginning, I was scared to death and nervous and insecure and really thought ‘They’re going to realize I suck and tap me on the shoulder say, Oops, we made a mistake, go on home.”
Moore shared,
“Kristoff wrapped me up, and he said, ‘I got you. I’m gonna help you find your way. And he was a big brother against me on the screen. He was a big brother to me and a mentor in real life.”
He said,
“When Kristoff passed away, it was gut-wrenching for so many people, but I owe so much to him because my mother didn’t understand the world of Hollywood.”
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Moore Is Proud to Have Y&R on His Resume
Moore continued,
“I didn’t grow up with my father, I didn’t have brothers and sisters, so I didn’t have this so-called support group to wave pom poms for me and say, You can do it, you can do it. But my acting coach and definitely Kristoff were that anchor for me to get me to believe in myself.”
Of course, fans of Moore know that he went on to have a highly successful career.
“I call my career high school, college, and graduate school: Eight years on Young and Restless and coming back here and there was high school, and then 11 years on Criminal Minds was college, then eight years on S.W.A.T. was graduate school, and CBS embraced me, saw something good in me, and gave me this life and career.”
He added,
“Now, I’m off doing a new version of S.W.A.T. [Exiles], which is not CBS, but to be able to say that I had an eight-year run on a soap opera, an 11-year run on a primetime show, an eight-year run on another primetime show, and it’s all to be on CBS? That doesn’t happen.”
Moore concluded,
“And just the fact that generations know me and know my face, and I’ve affected themselves or family members, that’s a humbling, proud feeling.”
