‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that in a new interview with CBS Watch Magazine, Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) sat down and answered several questions about the character, his personal life, and how he stays in shape. He started by explaining how he became Jack Abbott, and as it happens, he has a big thank you to say to Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), who saw him on a magazine after he was fired from ‘All My Children’ and simply told her husband, Edward J. Scott (the executive producer of Y&R) that “that’s Jack Abbott.”

33 years later, he’s still in the role and loving every minute of it. Bergman told CBS Watch, “I’ve been very fortunate. Every day I have been here, I have given them my all. I go for broke every single time.”

When asked about his fantastic shape, Bergman spoke about his time as a runner, and how he did it until his knees gave out, “I was a runner for 28 years. I ran the New York City Marathon in 1983, and I didn’t stop running until my knees gave out a couple of years ago,” and shockingly explained that he would not, “listen to music while I ran, so my brain would just turn off.”

Fellow runners are grimacing hearing that he didn’t listen to music, but it’s alright. Aside from running, Bergman is also quite the pianist. When asked about his musical prowess, Bergman said, “I’ve always been a musical person; I like getting lost in it. I had sung in countless choirs before and played the clarinet as a kid until junior high school. I had been in rock bands.”
