‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that there may be a Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) reunion in the works.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Don’t Compare Billy Flynn’s Cane To Daniel Goddard’s Version Of The Character
Christel Khalil recently dished to TV Insider about the Billy Flynn recast and the Aristotle Dumas storyline. Khalil admitted she had no idea the soap planned to bring Cane back until one or two weeks before he started on the show.
Daniel Goddard had previously played Cane Ashby, and Flynn’s first airdate was June 19th. Khalil explained her thoughts on the new Cane.

“It doesn’t feel like we’re trying to have someone step into Daniel Goddard’s shoes,”
The actress shared.
“It’s pretty much an entirely new character. It’s been so interesting to have scenes because we have the history there, but it’s a little bit different,”
Khalil explained.
“They’ve also added flashbacks that Lily has of interactions she and Cane have had in the past five or six years since he’s been gone. So, it’s almost a little bit of a new relationship again, in a way,”
She said.
Khalil was forthcoming enough to share that a Cane and Lily reunion wouldn’t be happening anytime soon. Lily is disgusted by Cane’s deception and lies, as well as his billionaire persona, Aristotle Dumas.
“So right now, it’s very much like, ‘I want nothing to do with you. We’re never getting back together, especially after all this. It’s never happening,”
She asserted about Lily’s feelings for Cane right now.
Khalil also urges the viewers to give Billy Flynn a chance to make the character his own. Recasts are often tricky for actors, especially when the role has been played by someone who originated that character and made them popular.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: It Would Be Foolish To Rule Out A Cane And Lily Reunion In The Future
Billy Flynn has a challenging task on his hands, but he’s a proven actor with a dedicated following and plenty of fans who adore him. His dreamy, deep blue eyes don’t hurt either.
In addition to his recent debut on Y&R, Billy Flynn played Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives and can still be seen on the Peacock soap until April 2026.
Billy Flynn said in Soap Opera Digest recently of the character of Cane and his story, “We’re going to rebrand it.”

Christel Khalil also told TV Insider,
“The point was to make this character something completely different.”
And so, people will give it a chance and view it as a new relationship rather than a rekindled old one.
That said, it would be foolish to rule out a Cane and Lily reunion happening eventually. Despite the slight tweaking of the history and the story, Lily was still the love of Cane’s life.
Billy Flynn and Christel Khalil’s chemistry was evident when Cane spoke to Lily alone prior to greeting the rest of his guests at his private estate in Nice, France.
When Lily first went to speak to Cane alone, he tried to explain to her that he was Aristotle Dumas, but she accused him of pretending to be the infamous businessman. It was interesting to watch her reaction once she understood what was going on.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: They Have A Long Way To Go Before That Happens
Lily wasn’t a fan of Cane’s Aristotle Dumas games. She obviously felt gobsmacked and betrayed by Cane once she realized that Cane was Dumas. Lily expressed her fury that Cane hid the truth from her.
She even asked Cane if their children, Mattie and Charlie, were aware of Cane’s wealth and power. He assured her he would never bring their kids into a situation where they would be asked to keep an enormous secret from her.
As Cane becomes a fixture in Genoa City and the inevitable corporate drama ensues. As a result, the audience will become privy to Cane’s motives and what he’s really planning.

There’s speculation that he’s not only protecting the Winters’ company. He may also force Victor Newman’s (Eric Braden) hand regarding Chancellor.
As the first formidable opponent to Victor we’ve seen in a long time. It should be fun to see that drama play out. Of course, we predict that Cane’s first and foremost priority is to make up for the pain he caused Lily.
Cane is the father of Lily’s children, so they still share a strong family bond. That is something that won’t change. With the reintroduction of Cane onto the Y&R canvas, the soap has offered the potential for the “rebranding” of a once-beloved super couple.
