‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Anthony Morina’s term as co-executive producer at “The Young and the Restless” has expired after nearly four years on the job. Morina was let go and will not be replaced. Josh Griffith, who was a co-EP with Morina, will now take over as sole showrunner and will continue to write for the program.

The husband of former “Y&R” head writer Sally Sussman, Morina and Griffith were named co-EPs of the daytime drama series in December 2018 following the exit of British producer Mal Young. Previously, the two worked as supervising producers. Morina had worked on the show as a producer and director since the mid-2000s. He served in the same function, or comparable, on “All My Children,” “General Hospital,” “Santa Barbara” and “Sunset Beach,” among others.

In August 2021, a former background actress named Briana Thomas filed a civil case against Morina and producer Sony Pictures Television for wrongful termination, saying that Morina sexually harassed her on many occasions when he was the show’s supervising producer. In 2018 and 2019, Thomas worked as a barista on the soap.

A jury trial has been scheduled for March 20, 2023.

In a statement, Morina says, “After 16 years, it’s time to move on to other things.” He added, “I’m most proud of keeping the show going over the last two and a half years through COVID once we returned after the initial production shutdown.”

Morina is not going to be replaced. Josh Griffith, the show’s head writer, will take over as single executive producer after serving as co-executive producer with Morina since December 2018. The two replaced then EP Mal Young.

What do you think? Is this going to be better for the show and was Morina fired because of the sexual harassment allegations? Let us know in the comments below.
