‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) Calls Out Former Executive Producer For Introducing Things No One Gave A DAMN About

‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) didn’t hold anything back, much like his on-screen persona, Braeden is very opinionated. In his 42 years on the show, a lot has happened, but one of the best things is his marriage to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). However, that almost never happened because of former executive producer Mal Young.

Braeden went all-in on his dislike for Young in the interview saying, “Look, let’s be honest. The last regime introduced things that no one gave a damn about, okay? Let’s call a spade a spade. No one gave a damn about some of those storylines, no one, because they were not part of the host of that show!

Braeden continued to explains that he and Scott were nearly pushed OUT of the show, “I hate to say it, but obviously, the Newman empire is one of the main cornerstones is the show. What the last regime really wanted, to be frank with you, was to get rid of me and get rid of Melody if you want to know the truth.

After just two years, from 2016-2018, Mal Young was fired from the show and replaced by Anthony Morina. It wasn’t just Braeden either, as Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Newman) reportedly had issues with Young, which led to their own departures.

Of course, while there were problems then, let’s be honest. The show hasn’t improved much. Lately, it’s been a little exciting because of the drama with Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), but before that we were nearly lulled to sleep every day by the boring storylines.

However, it seems to have been for the greater good, and now we have Victor and Nikki as the main staples of the show.
