British Royal Family News says that Kate Middleton was worried that Meghan Markle was going to eclipse her sister Pippa Middleton so much so that her family had banned the actress from attending the church ceremony. That’s because they didn’t want the paparazzi to focus on Prince Harry’s new girlfriend and instead wanted to keep Pippa in the limelight as well. Needless to say, their plan certainly worked. Here’s what you need to know.
The book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of A Royal Modern Family, revealed that there reason why Prince Harry could not bring his then girlfriend Meghan Markle to Pippa Middleton’s wedding back in May of 2017 was that because the royals, and specifically Kate Middleton and her family, were worried that Meghan would eclipse the bride of her very special day. And they weren’t wrong, either.

The book reads, “Harry and Meghan agreed that she couldn’t possibly turn up at the church, only fifty meters away from a specially arranged media pen, after such a crass cover story. If they worried their arrival might create a media circus despite taking every precaution, now they had no doubt that it would. Meghan’s church outfit, and Philip Treacy hat, would have to be worn another time.”
As many royal fans can recall, there were no photos of Meghan attending Pippa Middleton’s wedding. Certainly the Middletons didn’t want the former Hollywood actress to “steal the bride’s thunder,” as they say.
So far Meghan Markle herself has not made any comments about the claims. However, Prince Harry did propose to Meghan later that year and the couple had their own royal wedding in May of 2018. While Pippa did attend Harry and Meghan’s wedding, there are no photos available of the two brunette beauties together.
