Of course there’s going to be drama surrounding James Charles at Coachella. We’re just glad that it doesn’t involve minors. This time, it just involved what he was wearing to Coachella. James Charles has always, always served looks when it comes to showing up at Coachella.
It wouldn’t be Coachella if James Charles didn’t show up wearing something absolutely outrageous. In Coachella 2019 (ah yes, the world pre-pandemic.) he wore an outfit that showed off his entire derriere and it kind of broke the entire social media sphere.
This time, our boy JC just went for comedy instead.
This time he showed up on day one wearing this red, foresty-leaf outfit that was supposed to channel some sort of wood-nymph obviously but actually got the comment “forest fungus vibes” because it was basically a nude body suit with red lace, not unlike the type of brownish-red fungus one would find on a tree on a forest.
It was special. The next day, James Charles decided to try something a little more toned down, at first he chose a really unique-looking white outfit with lace sleeves and then he screwed it all up by going with a nude body suit with white lines… making him sort of look like a walking IKEA piece.
He then chose a body suit that had the same pattern on it as an angry weathermap which caused one tiktok user to tell him that it actually did look like the Texas Weathermap the past couple of days. However it also gave a “Rich Goodbody” vibe that I can’t really explain.
(Those who grew up in the 80’s will know exactly what I’m talking about.) Especially when he put the blue jogging pants on over it. He did say that he didn’t exactly know what vibe people wanted out of him though, because whenever he went for haute couture this year it seemed to fall flat, and whenever he went for a more casual style people were accusing him of not trying hard enough.
The looks he chose just did not have it this year. Something was off about them. Perhaps our senses have been dulled by the pandemic but those just weren’t what we expected out of James Charles. Of course, that wasn’t the only reason he was salty, he was also salty because people kept accusing him of having a BBL (Brazillian Butt Lift) done, but so far James Charles hasn’t addressed that.
