Recently, James Charles has been trying to branch out his content in the wake of the last scandal he got into where he took a two month long break from social media after being called out for using his instagram like a dating app and talking to underage people.
It seems that now that James Charles has returned to social media that he no longer just wants to hang around the besuty community, he has been posting other content that includes videos of him in his kitchen cooking but he has also expressed a desire to get in on the gaming world and start streaming video games.
The Gamers don’t want James Charles either
Switching content now after 5 years is arguably a little weird and worth a side eye but the thing that drew ire from fans and the gaming community alike, given James’ past is the fact that he was watching Purpled, an underage gamer and he shouted them out on an instagram post.
People all over twitter and instagram were absolutely not having it and were screaming to the tops of their lungs in the comments telling James to leave Purpled alone. A better question is why on earth would James want to switch from a full frontal community like the beauty community to a more anonymous community like the gaming community now?
Unlike beauty channels where you see a person’s real identity lots of times the gamer community doesn’t really focus on the identity of the user but rather the games being played.
Interesting choice for someone as high profile as James Charles, eh?Â
But not really all that surprising considering what’s been going on in his dm’s recently. The thing about the less high profile, less identity based communities is that if two gamers hook up no one really says anything. Beauty gurus have been elevated to almost celebrity status now, but someone who is in the gaming community, one wpuld really havr to know the community itself to really know or care about those relationships.
Now, so far Purpled has not come out and claimed any sort of harassment against James Charles and they seem to be okay with the situation, and it could be the James Charles simply watches Purpled and does not interact at all, however, people are still wary for the gamer in question knowing what James Charles’ past has been.
