‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers document that a character’s backstory is vital. Someone living in this version of Los Angeles, California, who has a tortured history, always faces the potential of it being used against him.
The him in this instance is Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). And the relatively recent history involves John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) reminding his wife of her brother’s shady past.
However, devoted fans recall that Thomas became aware Beth Spencer (Jordyn Lynn Ariza) never died. He withheld that information and pressured others beneath him at Forrester Creations to keep their mouths shut.

An unresolved crime Thomas is responsible for is the death of Emma Barber (Nia Sioux) in 2019. She learned about Beth’s existence and drove to tell Hope the truth while Thomas tailgated her on Mulholland Drive.
A memorable sequence occurred as Thomas’ blinding headlights impaired Emma’s night vision. She veered off-course over the side of the roadway and crashed.
Subsequently, Atkinson’s character got out of his car, peered down with a satisfied look on his mug, and did not attempt to rescue Emma. Sioux’s character was shown unconscious in her car. Whether she could have been saved will never be known, and Thomas fled the scene, protecting the secret for a while longer.

One of the people who worked under Thomas at Forrester Creations during the storyline referenced above was Xander Avant (Adain Bradley). This character’s return includes Finn.
Xander is Finn’s new patient. Finn’s recent comments to Steffy about Thomas’ keeping the Beth secret telegraphed what comes next.
As viewers recall, Xander left LA because of what happened. He and Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) were fired by Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), who was the only person to learn that Thomas tailgated Emma to her death. That knowledge was gained when Thomas admitted the truth to his father.
Consequently, Bradley’s character rejoins the cast at an intriguing point. Thomas is now a man of redemption. But Xander’s experience of being wronged by him, including his girlfriend, Emma, being killed, projects renewed drama.

Like the other Forrester family members, Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) wants to see the good in Thomas. Atkinson’s character has had periods where he lives well, but his ability to escape enforced justice is a problem.
Thomas is once again using promises of who he can be and comments about the past being behind him. Hope has bought in, but her relationship with him troubles many people on B&B.
