‘The Bachelor’ season 23 was led by Colton Underwood two, almost three years ago now, but the controversial lead has stayed in the news for a myriad of reasons.
The latest reason his name is showing up all over the place is a version of his fantasy suites date with Bachelorette co-host and former contestant on Colton’s season, Tayshia Adams. Tayshia disagrees with Colton’s recollections vehemently. In fact, Tayshia has gone so far as to say Colton is a big ole liar!
‘The Bachelor’: So What Exactly Is Tayshia Refuting?
Firstly, unless you live under a rock, you know “The Virgin Bachelor”, Colton Underwood came out as gay earlier this year. However, it was his Netflix special, Coming Out Colton, that has rattled Tayshia. In the unscripted series, Underwood opened up about the pressure associated with his fantasy suite dates, specifically the one with Tayshia, saying in part that he felt “so bad for [her].”
‘The Bachelor’: Tayshia Adams Has A Very Different Account From The Fantasy Suites Than Colton Underwood
Though Tayshia admitted to another Bachelor/ette alum, Becca Kufrin on her podcast, Bachelor Happy Hour that she has not watched the series, she said she’d heard the quotes relating to her overnight date with Colton from several other sources.
Colton’s recollections of his fantasy suite date were that, while the at-home audience could see his nerves and thought it was a sign he was falling for Tayshia and about to take a big step with her in both his personal experience and in their relationship, Colton was really just dreading the overnight portion.
“I didn’t want to go into the Fantasy Suite,” he recalled. “I didn’t want to put Tayshia through that.”
He went on to explain, “I knew I was attracted to men, but I felt like if I lose my virginity in the Fantasy Suite, is it going to please me enough to keep me wanting to be straight? Crossing that line was such a big deal because it would force me one way or the other and I didn’t know which way that was gonna be.”
He also said he “felt so bad for Tayshia” and professed “that night, I slept in sweatpants and a sweatshirt. It was, like 78 degrees in the thing, and I was like sweating. I just don’t want to give her the wrong impression.”
Not only does Tayshia disagree with Colton’s recollections, she was affronted by Colton’s pity party.
Speaking to Becca, Tayshia said, “First of all, I think it’s extremely rude. Don’t make me seem like this pity case, like he felt so bad for me. Anyway, I’m not the only person he should be feeling bad for, there’s other women that were trying to fall in love with you and really putting their hearts on the line, so if you feel bad for me in that regard, then sure.”
She then refuted the clothing claim that Colton has made several times.
“No, Colton Underwood did actually not sleep in sweats and a sweatshirt that night. [For] everybody that’s wondering. This has been said multiple times. It’s been said in his book, it’s been said on television, it’s been said in his show apparently.”
Instead Tayshia claims the heat in Portugal (where the overnight date took place) was awful and Colton slept in boxers. The door to the suite was wide open to prompt ventilation and it was raining outside, creating oppressive humidity.
“It was so hot and sticky. So, there’s actually no way he would have been in sweats and a sweatshirt.”
While Tayshia could answer Becca’s musing as to why Colton would lie about something so innocuous, she maintained she had no reason to lie about the night, either.
One thing both parties can agree on- there was absolutely, positively no sex to be had during their fantasy suite date.
