With his passing, it looked like Genoveva’s situation was only going to get worse. What Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) didn’t know is, Antonio had a close ally in his mission.
And that ally is now ready to take over. In fact, he approached Genoveva at the funeral to tell her he’s on her side. We’re glad to see there are still some surprises coming for Epifanio, because we want to see him go down. Hard. And Genoveva deserves to be free of Epifanio’s controlling self.
Actually, we’re waiting for the day when Teresa finds out what he’s been doing. While Teresa owes Epifanio right now, we have a feeling that won’t matter when she learns what lengths he’s gone to in controlling Genoveva. After all, she just helped rescue a bunch of abused women in her search for the Black Horseman, so she will definitely make sure he pays.

Elsewhere, Paloma Aljarafe (Ágata Clares) dealt with the emotional fallout from her decision to leave her son behind. She doesn’t regret what she did, but it obviously hurts and she worried that he might not understand. Lucky for her, Father Gonzo (Fernando Solórzano) was there to give her some perspective. Plus, she wanted him to promise that if anything happened, he’d make sure the kid knows she didn’t abandon him.
As for Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra), she is finding a way to forgive Mateo Mena (Anderley Palomino). While we’re doubtful these two will end up together, she and Mateo were almost friendly last time, and she clearly does realize he and Father Gonzo had good intentions.
