Now that it’s been reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be returning to the UK for Christmas, a lot of royal fans can’t help but wonder what’s really going on and if they made the right decision. Of course, the last time that the Sussexes were on hand for a royal Christmas was back in 2018. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited to spend Christmas with the royal family at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate, but are yet to RSVP.

“There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming,” one royal source told Page Six. “If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now.
“But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her.”
Apparently, one of the reasons why Harry and Meghan don’t want to fly to London right now is because they know it would make a ruckus in the media headlines and that’s something they want to avoid right now. Of course, it didn’t take very long for both royal fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter.
Many of them said, “If they came, they’d have to do the walk to church at Sandringham on Christmas morning and that’s all anyone would care about and they’d get criticised for pulling attention from the Queen/Charles/the Cambridges etc,” along with, “Which is why the British Press wanted them to go to Sandringham. The pictures would be worth a lot of money not to mention all the articles written. Trust me the RF asked because they had to ask. Now they all must wait and see what the Sussex’s will do instead. Expect to see the Cambridge children on display but I dare say NOTHING the Cambridges or the entire RF can do would compete with a public outing or photo of the Sussex Family.”
Another royal critic put it this way, “The BM are true hypocrites. First they say the Sussexes cause the Queen so much stress and are disrespectful. Then they want them to come back for XMAS where the BM will turn it into a media circus. Like they do with everything related to H&M. How is that not stressful and disrespectful to the Queen? Do they not see their role in this?!?”
