Three officers were so concerned about AEW’s Jeff Hardy after they pulled him over early Monday morning while believing him to be under the influence, and they drew their guns and pointed them at the wrestling star. The scene was all captured on video by police just before the 44-year-old wrester was arrested.
In the footage obtained by TMZ, you can see the police stopping Hardy’s white Dodge Charger on the freeway after reports came in of him swerving back and forth. They all walked to his car and appeared to shout orders at him through closed windows. Hardy didn’t seem to hear or comply, which caused the officers to draw their weapons.
Three Officers Pulled Guns On AEW’s Jeff Hardy During Their Stop And Arrest
Eventually, Hardy opened his door without issue and the officers were able to arrest him. In the clip, Hardy is wearing a Jacksonville Jaguars t-shirt, barely able to walk while mumbling to police. He admitted to drinking Fireball before getting behind the wheel.
They took him away to perform a field sobriety test, which Hardy stumbled through each time. After a few minutes they put some cuffs on him and he was under arrest.
This is just another blow to Hardy’s career and legacy. Once a young promising superstar, he was still able to achieve a lot through his career, but not nearly as much as he should have. He constantly struggled with drugs and alcohol and was released multiple times in his career.
We hope Jeff gets the help he needs and maybe one day we’ll see him retire the right way. As of now, he will be missing a ladder match Wednesday with his brother Matt Hardy for AEW, and he’s been suspended indefinitely by the company.
