British Royal Family News says that Meghan Markle is clearly saying out loud what a lot of us have been thinking to ourselves for a very long time now: that social media is not good for our mental health. While there was a time in which platforms like Facebook helped us connect with our family and friends, it seems as though it’s become a new place where people vent out their frustrations, destroy relationships, and share more negativity than positivity.

Meghan, however, says there’s another reason why she’s no longer online. Here’s what she has to say.

British Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Doesn’t Think Social Media Is Good For Us

Speaking during the Fortune’s Most Powerful Next Gen summit, Meghan said that for her own self-preservation, she has decided not to be on social media ever since she and Prince Harry pulled the plug on their Sussex Royal Instagram account back during their last day as working members of the royal family.

“I had a personal account years ago, which I closed down, and then we had one through the institution and our office that was in the U.K. that wasn’t managed by us—that was a whole team—and so I think that comes with the territory for the job you have,” Meghan said. “I’ve made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and in many ways that’s helpful for me.”

The Duchess of Sussex continued, “I have a lot of concerns for people that have become obsessed with [social media. And it is so much a part of our daily culture for so many people that it’s an addiction like many others. There are very few things in this world where you call the person who is engaging with it a user.”
