Anyone who’s ever tried out for any kind of acting role can certainly relate to nerves, right? Well, Robert Pattinson said that in a recent interview around the time he was auditioning for the Twilight Films he had developed an absolute terror of auditions!

He said that he would be all up in the air ecstatic about a project and then when it came time to actually audition for it, his confidence would be blown to bits. It also didn’t bode well that had the time he was living on his agent’s couch, so his agent told him to take a valium to settle his nerves before the audition.

Apparently, this approach worked because he got the role and proceeded to play Edward Cullen for all three of the Twilight films. He said that it gave him an odd ‘detached’ quality to his audition and in the cab ride over he felt great. Honestly, being high on valium would kind of… explain Edward Cullen’s entire demeanor.

However, he said he was only high for the audition, not the entire franchise, still, it seems he successfully channeled that energy for the rest of the films.

He also admitted in this interview that he was almost fired from the project, “I was 21 and wanted to make it as arty as possible. The studio was kind of scared to make it too emo and I thought that was the only way to play it. I spent so much time infuriated. It’s definitely something about being 21.

I can’t believe how I was acting half the time when I look back on it.” he then added, “They were like, Okay, whatever you’re doing right now, just do the opposite or you’ll be fired by the end of the day.” Yikes!

However, in this very same interview, Pattinson admitted to making things up in interviews just for the purpose of making things up, so we’re kind of wondering if he’s the most reliable narrator when it comes to his experience on the Twilight films – or anything in his life at all. Maybe he’s being honest here? We’re not sure. Stay tuned!!!
