Are you all done hating on Robert Pattinson yet? Yeah, he made some blah movies a decade ago, the man is a phenomenal actor and has proven it time and time again since. The trailer for Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ was shown at DC FanDome and has since been everywhere on the internet and finally, people are starting to bite their tongues.
How many times will we go through this charade? Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, Ben Affleck, people judging the casting before even seeing anything, and now they’re legends. Well, Pattinson is just another example, and from the trailer we got, he has become Bruce Wayne and The Batman flawlessly.
So what am I here to talk to you about aside from the line where he says, “I’m vengeance”? (Clearly a nod to the illustrious animated series with Kevin Conroy.) Well, something about the overall story and something some of us noticed in the trailer.
‘The Batman’ Starring Robert Pattinson Could Be Linked To This Story From The Comics
It looks and sounds like this film will put a lot of focus and emphasis on Batman’s detective skills, after all, he is the world’s greatest detective. So from this, we can assume that no clue will be left unturned, and nothing is shown unless there’s a reason for it.
At the beginning of the trailer, we see a card left for Batman from The Riddler with, surprise, a riddle! On the cover of the card though, is a picture of an owl. We can only assume this will have something to do with The Court of Owls, a secret society of Gotham’s most wealthy. If not just a nod to comic fans, at the end of the trailer, we hear The Riddler’s voice telling Bruce he’s a part of this too.
Bruce’s parents were never a part of the secret society, and in fact, the society were angry about it. There’s another line in the trailer, “What is the price for your blind eye?”. Could this be a reference to Bruce’s parents, supposedly turning a “blind eye” to The Court of Owls? There’s a ton of ideas and rumors you could draw from the trailer, but this is something I wanted to discuss and get out of me before I forgot in a few days.
