It’s never too late to say sorry, even though the damage has certainly been done. There’s a new report that says a private investigator has apologized for robbing Prince Harry of his teenage years after he apparently targeted one of his ex-girlfriends, Chelsea Davy. Here’s what you need to know.
Gavin Burrows told the BBC Chelsy Davy’s phone had been under surveillance during a “ruthless” culture in parts of the media in the early 2000s.

He told a BBC documentary called The Princes And The Press there was a much greater interest in Harry than in Prince William at the time. Editors told him putting Harry on the front page sold more copies of newspapers than William.
“As explained to me by a couple of editors, Harry had basically become the new Diana,” he said. The BBC says Mr Burrows is a witness in legal cases against the News of the World and The Sun, but that his claims are yet to be tested in court and are strongly disputed.
Burrows told the BBC documentary: “There was a lot of voicemail hacking going on, there was a lot of surveillance work on her phones, on her comms. “Chelsy would brag to her friends when she was going to see him.”
Burrows added that he was “very sorry” and explained: “I was greedy, I was into my cocaine, and I was living in a fake state of grandeur.”
While no one knows exactly what happened between Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy behind closed doors, there were some reports that hinted Chelsy didn’t want the kind of life and constant intrusion and criticism that she would get as Prince Harry’s wife.
Of course, that’s exactly what Meghan Markle got and is still dealing with ever since she married Harry back in May of 2018. Apparently Chelsea knew that kind of lack of privacy would put a huge toll on her, both mentally and physically, and that she wasn’t prepared to live the life of a royal spouse.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter, and neither has Prince Harry.
