Prince William and Kate Middelton shared a sweet moment during their surprise visit to Northern Ireland today. Kate was seen wearing a stylish Alexander McQueen forest green coat.
Kate And William Visited Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Services
“The Prince and Princess of Wales spent the first part of the day with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service’s Learning and Development College in Cookstown.”
Their surprise visit coincides with Fire Safety Week. William and Kate even took part in some training scenarios.
Kate was photographed gently placing her hand on her husband’s back before the royal couple took a ride in a fire truck and observed trainee firefighters participating in fire drills.
They were the perfect picture of true love and adoration, seen giggling and having fun together. Kate joked that she wanted the sirens on during the drill, but the driver was informed not to.
One of the graduates described Kate and William,
“Both lovely, great, down- to -earth people.” He also added that the pair were “very, very genuine and interested, especially with the water facility.”
He continued,
“It was an absolute honor and privilege to be here today, and it was also an incredible experience being in the back of the appliance with the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
He added,
“It was a brilliant experience. I was taken aback and starstruck, but I had to keep my calm, keep relaxed, and enjoy the moment.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales Visited Mallon Farn
The couple was also asking him questions about his career and plans, which made his day. Kate and William also took part in a flood rescue drill. The college was equipped with world-class facilities.
Later on, William and Kate also visited a flax farm called Mallon Farm, which had previously been a dairy farm. Kate tried a traditional linen-making technique. Kate claimed that the machine looked like a massive hairbrush.
The couple later also visited an award-winning cider farm. The McKeever family has owned Long Meadow Farm for three generations. They make cider and apple juice.
Kate and William marveled at the cider-making process and watched as the apples were pressed and bottled.
They were handed a glass of cider, and both sampled it. Kate said,
“I like that. I haven’t taken it as a shot like this before, but I love to put it in salads and things like that.”
The couple was later asked to help with the apple harvest and pick apples. They picked Golden Delicious and Bramley apples.
The Princess filled her basket up much quicker than the future King. She joked,
“Don’t drop the fruit, William.”
William And Kate Visited Long Meadow Farm
Speaking to the owners, William quipped,
“I was saying the trees are like something from Harry Potter.” The happy couple both wore aprons and made apple bread.
Kate also joked with her husband,
“Try and keep it in a circle.” William looked down at his masterpiece and said, “A circle? Now you tell me! If you look this way, it looks like a circle. This is a new variety!”
Kate and William started peeling their apples. William looked at his apples and turned to the McKeever family and joked,
“If you start peeling every apple, you are going to have to start helping. We’ll be here awhile.”
William was slicing the apple, and Pat McKeever commented, “I like mine thick.” The future King responded jokingly,
“You’ll get what you’re given.” He teased Kate, “Do keep up!”
Peter McKeever had been running the family orchard for over sixty years. The McKeever family produces craft ciders, apple cider vinegar, and apple juice. The apple juice was freshly pressed with no added sugar or water.
The last time William and Kate traveled to Northern Ireland together was in October 2022, shortly after the death of William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
