Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal will not be renewed after a series of major flops and disappointments.
Harry And Meghan’s Deal Expires In September
The streaming giant has confirmed they are done with Harry and Meghan once their deal expires in September.
“The deal is dead,” a Netflix source claimed. The couple inked an obscene $100 million deal with the platform in September 2020.
The couple had fled from Britain, where they were working royals until they stepped down from their duties in January 2020.
“She had everything going for her. The name, platform, press, and numbers were dismal. They’re just waiting for the credits to roll. They’re letting it expire without drama. There’s no appetite for anything new,”
they confessed.
Former executive producer and editor of Ok! Magazine, Rob Shuter backed up the claims.
“The interest just isn’t there anymore. They went from buzzy to background noise,”
he exclaimed.
That said, rumors are swirling that Netflix wants to “keep a vague hand in” with them in case Harry and Meghan divorce.
The streamer wants to “get in first” with a docuseries on their break-up. Apart from the couple’s first Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” which focused on their love story, their subsequent shows have all been abysmal failures.
Much to the dismay of the streamer, figures for “With Love, Meghan” showed it didn’t even break into the top 300 programs in the first half of this year with 5.3 million views.
“With Love, Meghan” Was Outperformed By Hundreds Of Shows
In the series, the Duchess of Sussex shared her tips on cooking, beekeeping, entertaining, and hosting. Meghan had more views with her old legal drama, “Suits,” than with anything new she has done.
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan’s show was outperformed by hundreds of shows in the first six months of the year.
Harry’s Polo documentary was an even bigger failure, ranking at 3,436 out of 7,000 shows. “Polo” was only watched by 500,000 households in six months.
In addition to Meghan’s show, “With Love, Meghan,” she launched her own lifestyle brand, As Ever. Her products have also received poor reviews.
Netflix doesn’t believe that making another deal with the Montecito pair would represent value for money. The powers that be at the streaming giant feel that they have explored every opportunity they can with Harry and Meghan.
That is, until a potential split between the couple occurs. Leading brand experts have called As Ever a fraud, claiming it is merely “milking Meghan’s fame” from her roles on “Suits” and her time in the royal family, as well as her marriage to Prince Harry.
They said that As Ever lacks authenticity and Meghan is basically pretending to be the next Martha Stewart. However, people can see through her façade.
Meghan’s As Ever Rose Wine Also Received Poor Reviews
Meghan recently launched her As Ever rose wine on July 1st, the same day as Princess Diana’s birthday. Royal fans and critics condemned Meghan for the insensitive timing of her wine launch. Reviews for her wine, predictably, have been poor.
Meghan decided to sell her wine for $90 per three bottles. That’s the least amount of wine offered by Meghan. You can’t even buy one bottle. She offers it for $90 for three, $159 for half a case, and $300 for a full case.
The Duchess’s wine is apparently very acidic and lacks much flavor. Apparently, its bland flavor lingers too long on the palate. Brittany, who has a channel called Royal News Network, did a wine tasting test.
Brittany reviewed the wine, calling Meghan’s rose, “meh.” We can add it to the perpetually long list of Meghan’s failures as a businesswoman. While Netflix plans to release a second series of “With Love, Meghan,” it will definitely be the last.
