If there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about job longevity, it would sure be Queen Elizabeth. Her son Prince Charles just praised the Queen for her “devotion to the welfare of all her people” in a special tribute to help mark her Platinum Jubilee. Here’s what you need to know.

The Prince of Wales has paid tribute to the Queen on reaching her Platinum Jubilee, saying his mother’s “devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year.”

Prince Charles Opens Up About Queen Elizabeth’s ‘Devotion To The People’ In New Tribute On Platinum Jubilee

As she reached her 70th year on the throne, Elizabeth II, in the twilight years of her reign, set out her hopes for her daughter-in-law, once a royal mistress and now set to be called Queen and crowned at Charles’s side on his Coronation Day.

In a message from Clarence House on Sunday, Charles and Camilla congratulated the Queen “on the remarkable achievement of serving this nation, the realms and Commonwealth for seventy years.”

The message continued: “The Queen’s devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year. We are deeply conscious of the honor represented by my mother’s wish. As we have sought together to serve and support Her Majesty and the people of our communities, my darling wife has been my own steadfast support throughout. The year of this unprecedented Platinum Jubilee brings an opportunity for us all to come together in celebrating the service of The Queen, by whose example we will continue to be led in the years to come.”

According to reports, new plans for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration will be one for the history books. The celebrations will include the 2022 Royal Windsor Horse Show, which will  culminate in a 90-minute event in the grounds of Windsor Castle as the country begins the big celebrations of the Queen’s 70-year reign. 500 horses and 1,000 dancers and musicians will take part in the show with a floodlit Windsor Castle in the background.

What’s more, a program of events featuring a parade, street parties and a live concert at Buckingham Palace will take place during a four-day holiday weekend in June of 2022 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne. And yes, the Queen is really hoping that her grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle can make it for the festivities, too.
