While it seems like it’s Meghan Markle who is making headlines all the time on both sides of the pond, her sister-in-law Kate Middleton seems to be the more popular figure in their royal family. In fact, there’s a new report that says the Duchess of Cambridge beat out the Duchess of Sussex in a new popularity poll in the United States. Here’s what you need to know.
According to The Sun, a new poll says that Kate Middleton got 68 percent of the vote in a popularity poll while Meghan, who now lives in California with Prince Harry and their family, only got 31 percent.
Kate Middleton Is More Popular Than Meghan Markle In The States
One of the reasons why Meghan fared so poorly in the poll is because a lot of people can’t get over the fact that both she and Harry seemingly threw the entire royal family under the bus in their seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
Royal expert and commentator Christopher Andersen says there’s a reason why Kate is gaining so much popularity in the U.S., even though it’s been almost a decade since she last visited the states.
He said, “Kate has become an even bigger superstar without ever setting foot here. She embodies everything Americans expect in a princess destined to become Queen — beauty, grace, regal bearing and the ability to connect. Whatever royal scandal is making headlines, the Duchess of Cambridge sails above it all.”
Royal expert Kinsey Shofield added, “Meghan wanted to be the Queen of America. But she’s never been less popular.”
THis all comes after another expert said that Harry and Meghan’s honeymoon period is over. GB News presenter and British politician Nigel Farage believes that Harry and Meghan are becoming just as unpopular in the United States as they have become in the United Kingdom.
He says that he can see that American commentators have been “getting very bored” with the couple, who pulled the plug on their working relationship with the royal family back in January 2020.
According to Express, Farage put it this way: “Meghan and Harry had mover’s advantage in that they were able to put their side of the argument out before anybody else. But bit by bit, I can see even American commentators getting very bored with them, so I think their honeymoon is over. America is a little bit behind but Americans are beginning to see it.”
