If you’ve frequented any of the online fan spaces dedicated to Stranger Things you’ll know that poor Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) gets a good ribbing on the daily for his outdated, 1970’s bowl cut. Now, it’s supposed to reflect the fact that the Byers’ family is relatively poor and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) probably does their hair herself and it was a really popular style back when both of the boys were little (in the 70’s) but fast forward to 2022 and poor Noah Schnapp, the actor who has to portray Will, is pretty humiliated by the unflattering style. He’s trying guys, he really is! But so far the producers aren’t budging on the hair.
We’re pretty sure that the online spaces will be glad to know that Schnapp is still trying (albeit uncesssfully) to petition to get Will’s hair a more updated look. Schnapp’s own hair looks nothing like the style that the show has it in, sure it’s short but it’s decidedly more stylish than anything Will Byers has ever sported to date.
Noah Schnapp Begged Producers To Change Will Byers’ Hair
No wonder it takes so long to film Stranger Things, it probably takes them that long to convince Schnapp to sport that hair once again and be the subject of online ridicule – it’s just the character, guys, it’s not Schnapp himself! Noah can’t help that Will Byers is a fashion victim of the 1980’s.
Schnapp has joked that in the future he would like to see Will shave his head and hey, who knows, it worked for Jim Hopper (David Harbour) so maybe the young Byers will be inspired by his new step-Dad to try a new hairstyle. Granted, Shop’s new bald look wasn’t exactly a decision he made on his own, rather it was a necessity deemed by the gulag he was being held in. But not to worry!
Wasn’t there a time in the early 90’s when flat tops came back in style? (Forrest Gump, Drew Carey) We’re nearing the 90’s in the timeline, so perhaps Will Byers will set his own fashion trend and embrace the flat top. Stay tuned!!!
