Netflix's 'Jamtara' Series - The Infamous Story Of Phishing Scams In Jharkhand

Netflix’s new series Jamtara is set to release next month on January 10! Yet another series to add to the streaming platforms already amazing roster. From the official trailer, Jamtara looks to be an exciting adventure into the state of Jharkhand, in India.

We’ve all received spam phone calls requesting our information. They play if off so smooth, to the point some actually believe what they are saying. It’s gotten to a point now where even if we block the numbers, they just use another. When they call you, they are hoping to get you to give up your private information. Information like credit card numbers specifically, so they can steal your money. When they call they identify themselves as bank workers or insurance people. It can feel real.

Jamtara explores the people behind these calls of phishing scams. How are they able to do this and what is life like for the people who take advantage of people’s naivety? This new Netflix series will explain it all and may have you questioning the next phone call you receive.

    Netflix’s ‘Jamtara’ Series: ‘Jamtara’ Summary

According to a brief summary of Jamtara’s official trailer video, “A story based on true events around the phishing scams that take place in the city of Jamtara, Jharkhand. A group of young men scam people across the country over simple phone calls. You may not know them but they most definitely have your number already. You’re just one phone call away from losing your life savings.”

The first season of Jamtara is slated for ten episodes. It will begin streaming January 10 and stars Amit Sial (Inside Edge, Raid). It follows a small group of scammers and revolves around Amit Sial’s character and his brother. In the trailer, it appears Sial’s character wants out of the business and begins his plan to get out. Though his brother is anything but excited about this. It’s a story of family, conflict, and stealing people’s money.

Watch how this story plays out and if Sial’s character will even make it out alive. Not much else is known about Jamtara, even the character names aren’t listed on IMDB, and there is no other plot summaries available. This is one you will have to watch next month to fully experience yourself.

English viewers, it should be noted that the series is subtitled, so there will be some reading involved. However, like with other Netflix series, this shouldn’t dwindle your ability to watch the series! Have a happy New Year and get ready to stream Jamtara next year!
