Maurice Benard’s State of Mind has been known for its emotional exploration of human emotion. As well as delving into the realities of mental illness and other issues. However, this week was a refreshing change when Maurice Benard chatted with his most unique guest. Let’s take a look at the guest, the chat, and what fans had to say.
Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: Who Is He?
First off, Maurice Benard’s State of Mind has been pimping this guest out for a while. That would be Max Tomlin, one of GH’s youngest and most visible fans. The soap and wrestling fan posts daily videos about the show for the Twitter account Max Updates GH. If you haven’t been introduced to him yet, we wrote up something a little while back you should check out. His videos are great and full of excitement for the show.
Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: Refreshing Conversation
So, it’s important to have the conversations he’s had with fellow soaps stars, athletes, and more. Talking about anxiety, depression, and other challenges helps raise awareness. And it can make a lot of people feel seen and understood because others are dealing with the same things. The shadow side and feeling emotions are great, but there are times you just need to laugh and embrace joy. And that’s what this conversation was.
One thing we really got a kick out of was Max’s disbelieving look when Benard said he could take wrestlers John Cena and The Rock. However, he did later concede it’s possible—if the challenge is a boxing match. Which, by the way, Benard challenged both the WWE stars too.
Another thing that struck us was Max’s complete calm and poise as he spoke to one of his GH favorites. He could’ve been talking to one of his friends at school for all the nerves he showed, and we love that confidence. As well as the passion that was evident when he spoke about the show. There’s something so freeing in that child-like enjoyment of something and just letting that fly free, and this chat was a great reminder to embrace the inner child more.
As for the rest of the chat, your going to have to check out the video above to see what else they spoke about. We will say, we definitely feel this kid’s got a great future ahead, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being part of the show he loves so much one day. Even if it’s just a quick guest thing.

Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: The Reaction
This chat really resonated with Maurice Benard’s State of Mind subscribers, too. The page is filled with praise for Max, the chat, and how Max actually got to interview Maurice a lot. Check out the video for that as well, as he speaks a bit about Sonny Corinthos’ (Benard) feelings about Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) as well as the situation with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright).
Said one fan, “This child! Maurice, you’re a natural (human). You’re able to interview/talk to anyone, in just the right way. I think I smiled the entire time from the sweetness, laughs, interests & intelligence – which is a mental health help & a topic of its own… Sometimes we just need to see a unique personality & some joy.”
“Max is so adorable. I can relate to him . I started watching General Hospital when I was 8 years old. Next month I will be 65. I also got my daughter hooked on it at a very young age and she’s 27. I have been a devoted fan so much that I have read your book Maurice and look forward to State of Mind every Sunday. It has helped me deal with my own personal situations,” added another subscriber.
“He is such a cutie! & so smart! His Momma raised him right. The best way to start watching GH is when you are young. I’ve been a lifelong fan like him since I was age 11.. He knows more about the show then people who’ve been watching for 20 years! He refreshed my memory and I’ve been watching for 18 years. This was awesome,” raved another. And we can’t argue of him knowing his stuff better than a lot of the rest of us!
In another comment that agreed with us, one said, “Max is so adorable, I bet he’s going to be an actor on a GH before long! He definitely has what it takes! And ty Maurice for another wonderful and adorable SOM! I started watching GH with my great grandma when I was 3, in 1963! Lol Now that I’m retired I never miss an episode!”
We totally agree on this kid having something special, and we hope that whatever happens next, he’ll enjoy every minute of it and look back on this whole experience with a smile.
