Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with the royal family, are known for their love of their beloved pets. The unconditional love of an animal can restore people, and royal family pets are included in that undeniable truth.

Lupo Was William And Kate’s First Family Dog Together

Queen Elizabeth was undoubtedly famous for her Corgis clan, and the next generation of royals is no different. Prince William’s love of dogs started as a young boy.

Prince William and Prince Harry grew up with their childhood dog, Widgeton, a black labrador who passed away in 2010. The pet was a huge part of William’s life, as he keeps a picture of him on his desk.

William’s next dog was Lupo, an English cocker spaniel whom he shared with Kate Middleton and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

He was in many family photos, including the first official photos of Prince George with his parents in 2013. Lupo passed away in 2020, and it was devastating for their family.

Lupo was the first dog Kate’s brother gave to the couple before he presented them with Orla in the summer of 2020.

In his recently released book, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James Middleton revealed that he gave his sister her first family dog with William and the kids. James said the puppy was a belated wedding gift to them.
His dog, Luna, birthed five puppies after being successfully mated with another cocker spaniel named Spartan. Lupo was one of them. He remembers that day fondly.

“All you have to do is choose your favorite,”

He told them as they stroked and petted the tiny pups. James talked about the sweet moment they chose Lupo in his book,

“There in the box nestled the glossy black pups. Catherine and William bent down and stroked their tiny muzzles.”

Orla Holds A Special Place In The Heart Of The Family After Lupo’s Passing

During the pandemic, James managed to breed another one of his pups, Luna, who birthed a litter of six puppies. Kate picked one of the adorable puppies and named her Orla. Orla was featured in a photo with Princess Charlotte for her eighth birthday last year.

After Lupo’s passing, Orla holds a special place as the heart of the family. William and Kate recently admitted that their puppy, Orla, sleeps with them at night.

During his tour of the College’s animal management department, Louisa Harland, who met William at Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Callington, Cornwall, said that the Prince of Wales was “absolutely in love with my little dog.” The pup’s name is Jacks.

William was super excited because he had never met one of his breeds, as he’s a Cockerjack. He beamed as he petted her dog and confessed to Harland that he and Kate shared their bed with Orla at night.

James said that he believes Orla helped Kate through her cancer treatment. His own dogs helped him through a dark period in his life when he was very depressed. His book is about how his late dog, Ella, saved his life and kept him from committing suicide in 2017. Our pets are the best gift. They have a way of knowing what we need emotionally and giving it to us without hesitation.
