Kate Middleton has revealed in a video message that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Kate’s Emotional Video Message From Windsor

The video was filmed at Windsor on Wednesday, and she made it clear that she has been so guarded about her health because she and her husband, Prince William, needed to explain everything to her children, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte.

The news was a “huge shock” to Kate, William, and their family. The announcement follows a privacy breach of Kate’s medical records at the London Clinic. The employees in question tried to access Kate’s medical information illegally.

It was likely a situation where Kate Middleton didn’t want her children to hear about her diagnosis from the media. She wanted to be the one to explain all this to her family before any leak came out. The three employees suspected and to be suspended are under investigation.

Princess Catherine was stoic and emotional as she said,

“William and I have been doing everything we can to process this and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken time to recover from major surgery to start my treatment, but most importantly, it has taken time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them I’m going to be ok.”

“As I have said to them, I am getting well and stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body, and spirit, she continued. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by many of you. It means so much to us both.”

Kate Middleton Has Been Receiving Preventive Chemotherapy Since February

Kate had abdominal surgery at the London Clinic in January. At the time, cancer wasn’t suspected. However, the surgery revealed she had cancer. Kate has not revealed the type of abdominal surgery or cancer involved. However, preventative chemotherapy is the course of action Kate’s medical team chose to take.

The Princess of Wales has been undergoing treatment since February. According to the World Health Organization,

“Preventative chemotherapy is the large-scale delivery of safe, single administration, quality assured medicine, either alone or in combination, at regular intervals to entire population groups.”

The goal of Kate’s preventative chemotherapy is to prevent the cancer from coming back now that it has been successfully removed. The effectiveness of chemotherapy depends on what type of cancer is present when it is treated, the age of the patient, and any other existing health conditions.

King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer in January. He has also been undergoing treatment since February.

The royal family is in crisis mode as two senior royals are battling a cancer diagnosis. The monarchy is trying to hold it together for the sake of the Commonwealth.

Kate Middleton will be back to work when she feels ready. It has not been said what type of cancer she has, but we should all be supportive of her and give Kate the time and space to recover and be with her family during this difficult time.
