Kate Spoke at a Landmark Summit in the City of London
The Princess of Wales was speaking at a landmark summit in the city of London. She encouraged big businesses to invest in supporting children and their families.
She urged business leaders to prioritize
“time and tenderness”
alongside profit and success. Kate spoke of the
“importance of love,”
which she described as the
“invisible thread that is woven throughout childhood.”
The Princess expressed her thoughts,
“A loving home ultimately teaches us how to love and care, but every environment has the potential to shape our hearts.”
The future Queen addressed a roomful of around 80 of Britain’s most influential business leaders at the summit to share the importance of her work on early childhood.
“Love is the first and most essential bond,”
She said.
“It is the texture, the weave of love which forms a child’s emotional world and becomes the foundation, the very fabric of resilience and belonging.”
“The home should be the space where love, safety, and rhythm enable a child to thrive,”
She added.
“Every child deserves respect and safety, and everyone who cares deserves recognition and appreciation,”
The Princess said.
“Every act of care creates community because we are all essentially weavers of the same fabric,”
She explained.
“I believe in restoring the dignity to the quiet, often invisible work of caring, loving well, as we look to build a happier, healthier society,”
She added.
Broadcaster Mishal Husain, who hosted the event, praised Kate’s message and told her he hoped delegates would understand that the summit wasn’t only about flexible working but also about the importance of early childhood.
Kate Knows Parents Today Have a Juggling Act to Perform
Kate responded warmly,
“We all can be a part of shaping a child’s life.”
The Princess also enjoyed a private lunch prior to meeting the people who have long supported and praised her early childhood work.
Kate even stayed at the summit far longer than expected, listening curiously to speakers inspiring change in business.
For the occasion, Kate looked elegant, sharp, and stunning, wearing a smart dove-grey suit with a ruffled pink tie-neck blouse.
Several of them helped Kate with her Shaping Us campaign, which she launched in 2023 to focus on the crucial first five years of a child’s life.
The Princess also enjoyed Alex Wharton, opening the business summit with a poem. She was thrilled and thanked him for a “Lovely start.”
Kate also acknowledged that parents today have a juggling act to perform, but that they also have to make a conscious choice about how to spend their time.
The foundation’s Business Taskforce organized the Early Childhood summit, established by the Princess in March 2023.
Kate Addressed the Maternal Mental Health Alliance Charity to Coincide with Her Work at Her Early Childhood Center
Earlier today, Kate also addressed the Maternal Mental Health Alliance charity with a letter personally written by the future Queen.
The letter coincides with their new exhibition, This is Also Motherhood, which is on display this week at Philips in London.
The exhibition explores the too often unseen difficulties with mental health throughout pregnancy and beyond.
In the letter, Kate wrote,
“The exhibition is a testament to the MMHA’s core mission, ensuring every family in the UK gets the mental health care and support they need, before, during, and after pregnancy.”
Kate has made early childhood a priority in her public role. The MMHA complements the work she’s doing through her Royal Foundation of Early Childhood Center.
