In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe suggested that young, healthy people don’t need the COVID-19 vaccine. This, of course, comes in one of the most prominent times in recent memory of getting vaccines, but to his credit, he may have a point.

COVID-19 has affected a ton of people in a ton of different ways, from loss of smell and taste to flu-like symptoms, to exhaustion, death, and even not having any effect. It’s hard to lump every single person together as the illness could affect someone on the spectrum of nothing to death.

Rogan said he believes “for the most part it’s safe to get vaccinated” and that his parents are vaccinated. But then he adds: “But if you’re like 21 years old, and you say to me, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ I’ll go no.”

This was immediately picked out of the episode and circulated online where a source close to Spotify said that they reviewed the episode and left it live because he wasn’t being outwardly anti-vaccine. Spotify issued a statement as well, saying,

“Spotify prohibits content on the platform which promotes dangerous false, deceptive, or misleading content about COVID-19 that may cause offline harm and/or pose a direct threat to public health. When content that violates this standard is identified it is removed from the platform.”

This is without a doubt one of the strangest times in recent history, with so much information going back and forth, it’s hard to pin down what’s true and what’s not. Though, in this particular situation, Joe was simply stating his opinion, and even noted that was wasn’t “anti-vax”.

I think listeners and others should relax on this comment. If you want to get the vaccine, get the vaccine. Others are more apprehensive as none of the vaccines are FDA approved as of yet.
