Star of the ‘Scream’ series Neve Campbell won’t be returning for the sixth film in the franchise as Sidney Prescott. In a statement, the actress confirmed that, “Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film.” She explained why saying, “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

The sixth film of the series will be the first without the involvement of Campbell after she appeared and starred in the previous five films. Of the five released thus far, they brought in more than $740 million for Miramax, The Weinstein Company, and Paramount Pictures.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette recently confirmed that they’ll be returning for the sixth film which is set to start filming this month in Canada. Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega — who all appeared in the 2021 release — will also be back for six.

Campbell ended the statement by saying she was thankful for all her fans and everything they’ve given her, “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my ‘Scream’ fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

We will surely miss Campbell in the new film, though as a fan, I’m going to have to see it without her. While she’s been the staple of the franchise for over two decades, the franchise itself may be bigger than her, unfortunately.
